1. What does the name Ekster stand for? Ekster is the Dutch word for the bird Magpie, known to line its nest with shiny objects. Moreover, EKS were our son's initials (Ewan Kennart Saunier) who died in 1999 from a brain tumor. Ster is the Dutch word for Star.

2. Do you sell your merchandise locally? Yes, we host Barn Sales about 2-4 times a year, check our website/Facebook page and blog for details. We try to keep our shop stocked well between barn sales. You will be sure to find some cool treasures here! We also participate in the Luckett’s Market’s.

3. I see something I like on your website, is it for sale? Many of our items are unique and one-of-a-kind but often we can find something similar to what you see on our website and social media. Please contact us with the item details and we will do our best to find a similar piece. For current inventory, check under "Objects" tab for items we highlight for sale!

4. Why should I stage my home and how much does it cost? Staging - or simply de-cluttering your home prior to selling is a proven winner. The staging fee is easily offset by gains from a higher sales price. We at Ekster offer many options to help you sell your home. Our record in the business is unparalleled, whether selling a simple farm house, brand-new condominiums down-town, or lavish estates in D.C.'s highest-end neighborhoods. We stop at nothing and will work tirelessly on your behalf.

5. Are the items you use in staging for sale? Yes, very often the items are available for purchase. Many times the new home buyer will request certain pieces, or all the furnishings, to convey with purchase.

6. Where do you find all of your unique items? We travel extensively throughout Europe and we also have sources in the States we rely on. We concentrate on Belgian and Scandinavian-style furniture and accessories. We also work with local artists to provide paintings and sculptures for our interiors.

7. Do you have wholesale terms? We do work with many designers and other retailers. Please contact us for specific information on terms to-the-trade.
